Computer Center

In 2004 the school received a grant from the Public Affairs Office of the US Embassy to provide computer education. The computer lab, named after Helen Keller (an American icon for the physically challenged), is equipped with twenty computers and two printers. The lab runs on diesel generators because the area experiences erratic power. Students are taught basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

We are very grateful to have this lab. In early 2004, our students were asked if they had ever seen a computer before. Only one student raised her hand. Today they all are very comfortable working on computers, as they spend time using them at least twice a week. Younger students especially enjoy playing games and using the painting program.

Hiteck Peripherals Pvt. Ltd. trained three of our teachers to work with students in the computer lab. We plan for all of our teachers to be trained to work and teach on computers in the future.

Note: Thanks to Mr. Shiv Nadar, Founder/President of HCL, for his grant to upgrade our computer lab, and to the Bharti Foundation for providing broadband.
