“I am not a burden on my parents or my society” said Arti, a student of Pardada Pardadi Girls Vocational School in a remote village of Uttar Pradesh. She is a fourteen year old studying in class seven in PPGVS. Her eyes sparkle as she makes this statement for she knows that what she is saying is not a vain dream but something that she is in the process of achieving.

The school has grown from 45 students in year 2000 to 300 in year 2006. It has 18 teachers for regular curriculum drawn mostly from nearby areas and 15 for vocational studies.

School averages to make Rs.100, 000 {Rs 1 Lakh} (USD $ 2222.22 @ $ 1= Rs. 45) per month from production of home furnishings. Monthly running expenses of the school per child are Rs. 35 (USD $ 0.77) per day. Apart from this PPES incurs expenses on infrastructure and marketing also.

There are 50,000 families in Anoop shahar whose earnings are less than Rs. 600 (USD $ 13.33) per month. PPES would like to cater to all the families by opening many more schools for the disadvantaged girls. And many more in places like Anupshahr in India.

Obviously it is no longer possible to manage the balance sheet without a corporate effort and by generating additional funds. To this end funds have been coming in already. But a major input is required to build the additional infrastructure to accommodate double the number of students in the school. WHAT TO DONATE FOR

You can donate through sponsorships, cash or kind:

1. Sponsor a girl at Rs.14, 000 (USD $ 311.11) p.a. Sponsor will be given a photo of the girl; and progress reports. They are most welcome to visit the school and interact with her.
    
2. Be a “Sponsor” for one or more of the following:
   
   Uniforms, food, shoes, books and stationary, machines, diesel for DG set, transportation for the students, building materials, fans etc
    
3. Order your Corporate Gifts –
   
   For Diwali; New Year; Holi, Xmas, Id or any festival and special events.
   Diaries; Trays; Bedspreads etc, through shops in Gurgaon , Meerut or website.
    
4. Invitation to employees to, pay as you earn, a sum of Rs.650 (USD $ 14.44) p.m. or similar amount per annum. Or donate 1% of your salary per month. Or whatever you are willing to contribute.
    
5. Provide facilities for the School’s Marketing Department to exhibit their products, at lunchtime, for employees to buy.
    
6. Be a volunteer for the school to teach some new skills to the students and teachers
    
7. Be a fundraiser for the cause of girl child education
    
8. Be part of planning team of Pardada Pardadi Educational society

General Fund :
Donations to this fund will be allocated towards administrative and programmatic costs.

Endowment/Corpus Campaign :
PPES is starting a fund for future investment in order to ensure the sustainability of the organization.

Corporate Sponsorship :
A corporation can get tax exemption and participate by donating funds for capital infrastructure, sponsoring students, sponsoring fundraising events, or buying school-made products.

In-Kind Donations :
If you have any items or are willing to buy items that the school would use, contact a member of the development team. These can include computers, cloth, food, machinery, or school supplies.

Professional Assistance :
Provide us with expert guidance on subjects such as marketing, maintenance, and human resources. Spend time at the school volunteering in the classroom or with the administration.
